House Relocation Careers

House relocation is one of the most unique and rewarding trades in the construction industry.

Instead of repeating the same tasks on the same site, our team works on projects that involve lifting, transporting, and repositioning full‑size homes across Queensland and selected areas of Northern NSW. It’s a career for people who enjoy physical work, problem‑solving, and being part of projects that genuinely change communities — from saving heritage Queenslanders to helping families move their homes to safer, higher ground.

At King House Relocation, you’ll work alongside experienced operators, carpenters, and relocation specialists who take pride in doing the job right. Every day brings something different: new locations, new challenges, and new opportunities to grow your skills. If you’re someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and working outdoors, house relocation could be the perfect fit.

Our crews handle everything from preparing sites and installing steel beams to operating hydraulic lifting systems and assisting with transport moves. You’ll be part of a tight‑knit team that relies on communication, precision, and a strong commitment to safety. Because our work often takes us across regional areas, you’ll have the chance to travel, work away, and experience projects most people never get to see in their career.

This role suits people who:

  • Enjoy hands‑on, physical work
  • Want a job that’s different from standard construction
  • Like solving problems on the spot
  • Value teamwork and communication
  • Want long‑term stability in a specialised trade

To join our team, applicants should meet the following requirements or be willing to obtain them:

  • Valid White Card (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Previous experience in construction, carpentry, or building worksites
  • Willingness to travel and work away when required
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow direction
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety culture
  • Valid driver’s licence (Provisional or Open)
  • Machinery tickets desirable but not essential
  • Reliable, punctual, and physically capable of hands‑on work

FAQs

  • Do I need relocation experience?

No — you don’t need relocation experience to get started. We look for people with a background in construction, carpentry, or general building worksites, as these skills transfer well into the relocation environment. If you bring the right attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn, we’ll teach you the specialised parts of the job.

  • What does a typical day look like?

Every day is different. You might be preparing a site, installing steel beams, assisting with hydraulic lifting, or helping guide a house during transport. Some days are spent on local projects, while others involve travelling to regional areas. If you enjoy hands‑on work, problem‑solving, and variety, you’ll thrive in this role.

  • Will I need to travel or work away from home?

Yes — travel is a regular part of the job. Many projects take place across Queensland and selected areas of Northern NSW, and some require overnight stays. Accommodation is organised, and working away gives you the chance to experience different locations and job types while being part of a close‑knit team.
